Hotmail email setup on Android says "unable to open connection to the server"?

I wanted to open an account on hotmail using my new Sony Ericsson Xperia. But, I'm having an error message, "Unable to open connection to the server". Tried for some time, but no luck. Why this is happening to me?

You should check your internet connection first. If it is working or not. This may happen if hotmail server is too busy for the time being. Wait for some time and try later.

This can happen while using your computer too, I don't believe is your phones problem, just try again after a couple of minutes.

How did you try to browse your hotmail account? If you used your browser it might not load fast and caused you this problem.
There is an application which automatically checks your hotmail as soon as you are connected to internet.
Just type "Hotmail" on Play Store and you will find it.

Why don't you switch to gmail? It's a good choice and far better than hotmail.

Check your network status and net settings also. Wrong settings might caused this.
